My name is Jamie Shehan, and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). I provide therapy services in Urbandale, Grinnell, Marshalltown, and through telehealth. My goal as a therapist is to offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can explore your strengths, navigate challenges, and work toward meaningful change at your own pace.
I completed my Master’s coursework at Capella University and have had the privilege of working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-image concerns, relationship challenges, divorce, and grief/loss. I am also passionate about supporting individuals and families affected by Neurodiversity, Adverse Childhood Experiences, trauma, and substance use.
My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and tailored to your unique needs. I believe therapy is most effective as a partnership, guided by your goals and experiences. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, feeling stuck in old patterns, or simply seeking a space to be your authentic self, our work together will focus on what truly helps you. While grounded as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT), I use an integrative approach, incorporating interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
Born and raised in Iowa, I now live in Des Moines with my two children. In my free time, I enjoy sports, reading, travel, music, and art, and I love spending quality time with my family. I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you on your journey!
